In general, the minimum requirement for English teaching jobs abroad, in Canada, and online is a Bachelor degree in any area and an accredited 120-hour TESOL, TEFL, or TESL certificate.

The 120-hour and 250-hour online TESOL courses offered by OnTESOL focus on the methodology and lesson planning frameworks used in general English adult class. We also offer additional 20-hour specialist courses on teaching Business English, teaching English to Young Learners, teaching IELTS preparation courses, and teaching online. These specialist courses are open only for TESOL / TEFL / TESL certified teachers and their purpose is to teach how standard methodologies and lesson planning frameworks can be adapted for classroom situations that English teachers experience in different job markets.

The Advanced 120-hour TESOL Certificate program is perfect for entry-level and experienced teachers who need to meet job requirements with an accredited TESOL certification course and don’t have the time required to complete the more intensive 250-hour program. We only recommend the 250-hour TESOL Diploma program for experienced ESL teachers who want to dive deep into grammar, phonology, and the theory and methodology of TESOL. We recommend viewing our ‘Compare Courses’ page.

Recommended Course Package: We recommend enrolling in the 120-hour Advanced TESOL Certificate course with a combination of one or more 20-hour online specialist courses for gap-year English teachers, online teachers, K-12 teachers, Business English teachers, and language school teachers in Canada or the United States.

Save CA$199 / US$150 on each specialist when you register in an online TESOL course with OnTESOL.
